Been standing long?

So tonight, I went out to dinner with some of my best friends from college. After we ate, we went over to Robert's house to hang out. We had been there for a few hours talking about the old times and had migrated outside because we were all getting ready to leave. We're all just hanging out on the front porch/sidewalk/grass and my dumbass falls down. I was honestly just standing there, not consciously moving around, and down she goes! I'm not quite sure HOW it happened, but I know it wasn't pretty! (un)Fortuately, I was standing on the sidewalk and I caught myself with the knuckles on my left hand and now they are all cut up (all 4 of them - see photo evidence below). If I had just fallen to the LEFT, I would have landed on the nice, soft grass, but NO, I have to fall to the right! Luckily, everyone played it cool and didn't make fun of me. I was rather embarassed but I'm sure they've seen worse things (like when I fell at Dixie College graduation in a skirt and did a somersault on the grass - that was a star moment for me!)I am happy to report that no nails were broken in this incident!

"Behuz I said so"

So Halle (my niece) substitutes sounds she doesn't know with an "h". I went to nursery with her this last week at church and she wouldn't talk to any of the kids or do anything. She wanted me to hold her the whole time. I asked her why she didn't want to go play with the girls and she said, "Behuz I don't want to". I finally convinced her to have a snack with them and she sat very quietly on the bench and ate her little hot dogs (vienna sausages) and marshmallows. Then, she decided it was time to go find Grama Vik and she wasn't taking no for an answer. There was still 20 minutes left of the class so I tried to talk her into staying. She kept saying, "Wet's go Weisha" and I would try to distract her. It worked for a while and then she told me again, "Wet's go Weisha" to which I replied "Why, Halle?". "Wet's go now behuz I said so Weisha". I guess she has heard that once or twice and decided to try it out for herself. Needless to say, it worked. We left 10 minutes early to go find Grama Vik.

A crazy week

So, this week has been totally crazy. First of all, we had a flood at my townhouse (see 2 previous posts for details). Then, my co-worker (there are only the 2 of us in the department) has been out of the country for 2 weeks and I miss her so very much! Wednesday, my boss of the last 4 years resigned from her position with the company. Some stuff was going down and I don't have the details, but she quit before they fired her basically. Now, my brother is having surgery tomorrow and I'm going to go home and help with the kids while he recovers. I think I deserve a vacation but that's not coming for a long time! Too bad cuz I'm exhausted!

The flood waters have receeded

So my landlord came over yesterday to see if he could figure out what the problem with the flood is. Apparently, the pumping system blew a fuse and the alarm that is supposed to sound when the pumping system is no longer working also blew a fuse. The townhouse directly behind our experienced flooding as well. So he brings over these shop towels (heavy-duty blue paper towels) and proceeds to soak up the water for 45 minutes. The carpet is still a little wet, but it's not a lake like it was earlier. I have my fan on it 24/7 hoping to dry it up so we can move on. Some days, I wonder if it's even worth the drama and stress!
