Hanging out with the Warners

On Sunday, November 1st, Ben and Shea blessed their new baby - Emery Dawn Wade. She's such a good baby and it was a lot of fun to hang out with the Warner family for the day!

Chandler's "incident"

So a couple of weeks ago, my cousin Chandler was getting ready to ride his horse up Logan canyon when he was bucked off. The horse was freaking out and Chandler landed on his face. He got up and the horse calmed down. He felt fine, but his co-worker told him to get in the truck. They loaded the horses and went to the Emergency Room. In the ER, they checked out all his wounds and discovered that he had broken his neck. It was a crack in the bones that keep the vertebrae separated and if left untreated, he could develop severe nerve damage. His surgeon scheduled his surgery for the following Sunday (3 days later). Here are the pictures from the trip to the ER (WARNING: there are some pretty graphic pictures below):

Surgery went really well and they were able to place a plate and some screws in between the vertebrae to stabilize them. He has to wear a neck brace for 3 months, won't be able to work for a while, and doesn't have a lot of energy. He is doing remarkably well for what he's been through. He shouldn't have any long-term effects other than the scars. He is a VERY lucky guy!

His face healed pretty well and the cut on his head is working on getting better

Such a happy patient - he wanted to escape the hospital the day of surgery - no such luck

These are the screws in his neck

More Davis family fun

On Sunday, we all celebrated Grandma's birthday in Fillmore. Here are some pictures from Sunday. Baby Jade is getting so big and is the center of attention for sure!

Jesse turned 5 on October and Halle turns 4 on October 13th so we had a joint family party for them on the 1st. They got lots of presents and were really excited about everything they got. I love these two so much and am so glad they had a good birthday!

In memory of my hero

With the NFL season officially underway, I get a little sentimental regarding my fallen hero, Sean Taylor. I will never forget the day that Justin called me to tell me that Sean had been shot and was in surgery. Later that day, when it was announced that Sean had passed, I truly felt like I had lost someone I cared about. He was a great football player and a role model. I watched him all through college at "THE U" (Miami) and when he was drafted to the Redskins, I became a 'Skins fan for life. You are still missed Sean and there is no safety in the game that plays to the level you did when you were still with us. RIP #21 - HTTR
